The Pain of Being Lost

She was lost and alone in this large forest. She feared that she would die if she didn't take shelter here soon or find food to eat, to give her body more strength to continue on. She didn't know how to survive, how to hunt, how to seek shelter, or how to protect herself. She had already been attacked by crows, and the open wounds on her back and sides were weakening her with every step.

Her name was Ultana, a lone scared wolf that had no clue how to survive with out the humans taking care of her. She'd already been lost for a month now, with every bone in her body showing through her maroon coat. She had been living off of the tiny caucuses that were left from another creatures hunt.

Shivering, Ultana paused in her steps and looked about. She had no clue where to go. She bowed her head, sat on the rough ground, and thought to herself about all that happened in her short life. Maybe I was better off with the humans.

Slicer watched the young maroon wolf pad through the forest. She was out exploring the forest. Searching for the creature. She walked over to Ultana and barked "Who are you?" Her black eyes showed now fear or hatred. And her face revealed nothing. She kept everything to herself. She barked again "I said who are ye!?"

Jumping at the unknown wolfs question, Ultana's brown eyes flashed with panic. "M..m..my..Na..na..name..is..Ul..Ul..Ultana." She stuttered uncomfortably. She shrunk down to the ground in submission to the other wolf as she looked about. "Wh..wh..where..a..a..am..I?" She asked, her stuttering getting worse.

Suddenly Ash soared gracefully from the sky and landed in between the two feas. He barked at Slicer "Go away ye wee vermin. Ye frightened the pup!" As Slicer backed off into the bushes Ash padded over to Ultana and spoke calmly "Hello there Ultana. You are right outside of Bloodpack territory. Are you lost?" He slowly came closer.

Backing away from the male wolf with wings, still hucnking low to the ground, Ultana nodded shyly. "Ye..ye..yes...I..I..I'm..la..la..lost." Her stuttering calmed down a bit as her fear lessened.

Ash smiled warmly and whispered "It's ok, I am not going to hurt you. Will you come back to camp with me? I'll talk with the leading wolf, Hakaku (sp?), he'll help you. Will you come with me? I promise I won't hurt you or force you to do anything." He slowly nudged closer to her looking as gentle as possible, he pressed his wings against his sides and was careful not to show his fangs, or claws.

"He...hel...help me wi..wi..with what?" Ultana asked, her stuttering easing up a bit. She stood up from the ground backing away from the winged wolf as it ventured closer to you. Her pride was stung, having other wolves see her in this condition.

Also, there's been a strange creature lurking around who might be a danger to you. You need to stay with other wolves." He stood up slowly and glanced around him, making sure all was safe.

Ultana lifed her head at the sound of her name comming from the wolfs "mouth". Looking about her at the mention of a creature, she moved closer to him, nodding. "I..I..I'll g..g..go." She stuttered, looking back down at the ground.
